Çinar Topakli
Cinar is one of Istanbul's first generation of contemporary tattoo artists. Tattooing for over two decades, Çınar started by making his own machines before tattoo equipment was available in Turkey. He has over twenty years of experience in the business, and is the owner of Çinar Arts, a high end tattoo studio and art gallery in the luxury fashion district of Nisantasi. He studied traditional Turkish arts at the Mimar Sinan University for Fine Arts and Architecture.
Emma has been tattooing since 2013. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting and Sculpture at Brandeis University, earning High Honors in Fine Arts. After attending university, Emma continued to pursue a career in the arts, first in New York City, then while traveling in India and Turkey. Emma completed her tattoo apprenticeship at Çinar Arts in Istanbul, where she met her husband and business partner, Çinar Topakli. They have since returned to Montclair, Emma's hometown, to open their second business, Painted Soul Arts.

CHELSEA
Chelsea is an interdisciplinary artist who’s work is influenced by botanicals, animals, folklore and the occult. Chelsea is interested in connecting to her clients through the ritual of tattooing in order to positively contribute to their sense of identity and body reclamation.
Chelsea graduated with a BFA from Parsons, the New School for Design in NYC.

CLARA
Clara started apprenticing with Cinar and Emma in the spring of 2019 when she was
20 years old. She recently graduated from Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, NY, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and Ceramics.
Since childhood, she has enjoyed exploring all types of art. Clara focuses primarily
on realism and stylized works inspired by her love of animals, mythology, and
nature.

Josh
Josh earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in illustration from New England College Institute of Art & Design. Through his formal arts education he studied a large variety of artistic styles and mediums. His tattooing career began in early 2020 as an apprentice under studio owners Cinar and Emma.
Josh enjoys working in a variety of styles, but primarily specializes in black/grey stylized realism, often mixed with some geometric and abstract elements.

Jaime
Jamie loves drawing since she was very young. Started apprenticeship at mid town NY, 2014.
She loves animals, plants, nature, good and evil themed statue work, mythical creatures and Asian style drawings.
Specialized in using single and 3 liners.

Sarah
Sarah first became acquainted with the town of Montclair while studying Fine Arts at Montclair State University. She then went on to obtain a Masters of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art and began tattooing in early 2017. She is classically trained in traditional oil painting and figurative drawing.
When it comes to tattooing, her favorite styles are black and grey and all forms of realism. She finds inspiration from art history, in particular the Romantic, Baroque, Pre-Raphaelite, Renaissance periods, and more recently Dark Surrealism.

Joe
Joe graduated from the Pratt Institute where he concentrated in illustration. His love of Manga artwork and its simple linework influenced his own art practice. He draws inspiration for subject matter from anime and nature, particularly botanicals and fossils. His illustrated black work blurs the line between minimalism and realism.
When Joe is not working, he is often found cuddling with his cats, Ava and Yuki.

Luiz
Luiz Ribeiro is a Brazilian tattoo artist who has been tattooing for over 20 years, and while he is well versed in many styles such as fine line, black & grey, watercolor, and tribal, his favorite tattoo style is comic book and Pop culture tattoos.

Anna
Anna began apprenticing in 2022 and moved to Painted Soul Arts in 2023, working under Emma Larkin to conclude her education.
She enjoys high contrast blackwork paired with fine details and accent colors. Strongly influenced by ‘Trash Polka’, looking to work on abstract black + red work, typography, organic ornamentals, and funky flora + fauna illustrations.
Her inspiration is derived from the patterns in nature, seeing the beauty in everything from bug to bloom, looking forward to whatever comes her way!
Anna is working to translate a lifelong passion for fine art to tattooing. Before apprenticing, she studied Graphic Design for 2.5 years at Cazenovia College (’18-‘19) and Montclair State University (’19-‘20).
